There’s Always a Last Week

There’s always a last week.

We spend most of our time listening to others
about something that happened last week.
We spend the rest of our time
telling others what we had heard from others
about something that happened last week
even though we had all listened to the same others
about something that happened last week.

Had we thought for ourselves we would know
there was nothing new in what we had heard from others
about something that happened last week.

We would save a lot of time.

If we saved all this time
what would we do with it?

کَل کی باتیں

ہَر آج کا ایک کَل تھا

ہم اپنا بہت وقت اَوروں کی سُنتے ہیں
اُن چیزوں کے متعلق جو کَل ہوئیں تھیں
باقی وقت اوروں کو بتاتے ہیں
وہ باتیں جو اوروں سے سُنیں تھیں
اُن چیزوں کے متعلق جو کَل ہوئیں تھیں
حالانکہ ہم سب اُنہیں اوروں سے سُنتے ہیں وہی باتیں
اُن چیزوں کے متعلق جو کَل ہوئیں تھیں

اگر ہم سوچتے تو جان لیتے کوئی نئی بات نہیں تھی
اُن باتوں میں جو ہم نے اوروں سے سُنیں تھیں
اُن چیزوں کے متعلق جو کَل ہوئیں تھیں

بہت وقت بچ جاتا

یہ سب وقت جو بچ جاتا
ہم اُس کا کیا کرتے ؟
